Abstract:
Objective:The purpose of the present study is to identify a certain criterion of free cash flow that has the highest value content.Method:in order to achieve this purpose 11 commonly used free cash flow to examine the value content oncethey were tested in a sample of 180 firms listed in Tehran Stock Exchange during 2009 to 2019and once tested individually in manufacturing industries with high asset-to-volume ratios across the stock exchange. Multiple regression model was used to test the research hypothesis. Results:The results of the research based on a sample of the entire stock market showed that the free cash flow based on Lehn & Poulsen model with higher R2 than other free cash flow models is capable of changing stock market price. And, Based on a test conducted on 7 groups of industries, it proved that in the pharmaceutical, chemical, petroleum, basic metals, food and automotive industries, the free cash flow was according to Verdi (2006), Copland et al. (1991), Verdi (2006), Lehn & Poulsen (1989), Palepu& Healy (2013), and Lehn & Poulsen (1989) with higher determination coefficients than other free cash flow models able to explain the changes in stock prices.
