The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of the family-centered sensory and motor interactive games program on strengthening the developmental and motor skills of children aged 12 to 24 months with a history of low birth weight. The research design was of mixed method (qualitative-quantitative) The statistical population consisted of children aged 12 - 24 months who had a history of low birth weight in Tehran in 2022.The sample included 38 children aged 12 to 24 months with a history of low birth weight and their mothers which were selected using available sampling method. Participants were randomly selected into two experimental and control groups. Children's Developmental Screening Scale, third edition of Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ3TM) was taken from both groups. 16 sessions for experimental group children and 2 sessions of the family-centered program for mothers were considered. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 26 statistical analysis software. First, the descriptive analysis of the variables, the normality of the assumptions, and the equality of the variance of the variables in the groups were investigated, and then the research hypotheses were investigated using univariate analysis of covariance. The results of the covariance analysis showed the effectiveness of the family-centered sensory and motor interactive games program. A significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test in terms of developmental skills has been shown between the experimental and control groups. (P<0.005). This study showed that motor and developmental skills among children aged 12 to 24 months with a history of low birth weight can be strengthened through programs with appropriate structure and entertainment. For future researches, the effectiveness of this program on children with normal weight as well as longitudinal studies are suggested.
