خلاصة:
This article reviews Iran-Turkey relations in the light of the
recent developments in the Arab world. The authors will try to
apply the realism and constructivism theories and put emphasis
on the material elements on the one hand and identity on the other
hand to analyze Iran-Turkey relations at national, regional and
international levels. The realism theory underlines the impact of
the material and objective elements of power such as the military
and economic power in line with the national interests on the
behavior of the players, while the constructivism theory holds that
the main beliefs, norms and expectations formed on the basis of
the common values and identity will influence the external
behavior of the players. In the end, the authors will conclude that
the characteristics and the depth of Iran-Turkey relations are in a
way that the crises in the Arab world including the Syrian crisis
will not force neither of them to sacrifice their long term relations
to their short term interests. In order to preserve their regional
positions, Iran and Turkey need to have cooperation and
interaction with each other.

"Discourse: An Iranian Quarterly, Vol. 10, Nos. 3-4, Summer-Fall 2012: 119-143 Introduction Some Western analysts believe that the trend of the events and developments in the recent revolutions in the Arab world is something beyond the demands and intentions of the active players in the Middle East including Iran and Turkey and it falls into the domain of the will and interests of the trans-regionaland global players.
Ahmet Davutoglu believes that his country has historical and cultural relations with all the regions of the world including Europe, Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus; 3) The political institutions in Turkey could be a model for the Middle Eastern regional countries; 4) A belief in these institutions will be a strong lever for supporting Turkey's relations with regional countries; 5) Turkey must play an important role in managing regional and international crises; 6) Through the economic, political and security cooperation with the regional countries, Turkey should eliminate the need for the involvement of foreign powers; 7) Instead of spending a lot for joining the European Union, Turkey should invest on its relations with regional countries, particularly countries that used to be part of the Ottoman Bmpire.
Meanwhile the Islamic discourse of Iran is closer to the attitudes of Turkey; 2) Fear and lack of trust of Saudi Arabia towards Turkey; the influence of Turkey among the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League member states has undermined the power and leadership of Saudi Arabia; 3) Turkey's approach towards the wave of universal rules of democracy and human rights; Ankara has announced that: "We want to end bloodshed and tears in the Middle East."
