The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on depression and life expectancy in patients with liver transplantation. The method of the present study was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test research design with a control group. The statistical population of this study included all patients who, according to a medical diagnosis, had undergone liver transplant surgery and had received a liver in the past year. The sample consisted of 30 patients were evaluated according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion that purposefully selected and randomly into two groups (n=15) and control group (n=15) were selected. Beck Depression Inventory and Life expectancy questionnaire were used to collect data. Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) test was used to evaluate the purpose of the study. The analysis was performed using SPSS software version 23. The results of analysis of covariance indicated that the patients in the experimental group were significantly lower in terms of depression (p < 0.001) and also the level of life expectancy in the experimental group was significantly increased (p < 0.001). Therefore, it can be concluded that acceptance and commitment therapy has reduced depression and increased life expectancy in liver transplant patients.
