خلاصة:
این تحقیق در‌صدد است به خوانش اندیشۀ "سید فخرالدین شادمان" از تجدد و مسائل برآمده از آن در چارچوب نظریۀ تحلیل گفتمان لاکلاو و موفه بپردازد، اینکه چه رویکرد سلبی یا ایجابی نسبت به تجدد، و خاستگاه آن غرب، در گفتمان شادمان شکل‌بندی شده است و چه نظامی از معانی و مفاهیم را در مواجهه با تجدد و شکاف‌های هویتی ناشی از آن برساخته است. او پرسش و پاسخ خود از چگونگی این مواجهه و جذب یا طرد ملزومات و وقته‌های تمدن غرب را در کتاب تسخیر تمدن فرنگی در دهۀ 1320 شمسی صورت‌بندی می‌کند، و با باور به تجددی هدایت شده و برنامه‌ریزی شده در زنجیرۀ گفتمان‌های بومی‌گرا معتقد است جانمایه تجدد و پیشرفت غرب فقط در علم آن محدود می‌و این علم را باید اخذ کرد پیش از آن‌که سایر عناصر فرهنگ مهاجم غربی، سوژه‌های مستقر در وضعیت فرهنگی-اجتماعی سنتی را مسخر خود سازند و از محتوای هویتی‌شان تهی کنند. شادمان پروژۀ تسخیر تمدن غرب را امکان‌پذیر نمی‌داند مگر با خودآگاهی و وحدت ملی که او این هر دو را با مفصلبندی حول دال مرکزی زبان فارسی به عنوان بازنمای هویت و خرد ملی ممکن دانسته و تلاش می‌کند با ایجاد خصلت تعیّن کنندگی در زبان فارسی، مواضع سوژگی پراکنده را از مقام خود حقیر تجدد‌‌زده یا سنت‌زده به موضع منسجم و یک‌پارچۀ خود آگاه و اصیل، ارتقا دهد تا سوژه به واسطۀ این خودآگاهی به بومی‌سازی تجدد پرداخته و ایران را از وضعیت سلطه و تسخیر غرب برهاند.
This research intends to read "Seyyed Fakhreddin Shadman"'s idea of modernity and its issues in the framework of Laclau and Mouffe's theory of discourse analysis, what negative or positive approach to modernity, and its origin in the West, is formed in Shadman's discourse. And what a system of meanings and concepts it has created in the face of modernity and the resulting identity gaps. He formulates his questions and answers about how this confrontation and absorption or rejection of the necessities and times of Western civilization in his book The Conquest of Western Civilization in the 1320s, and believes in the guidance and modernity in the chain of indigenous discourses. The progress of the West is limited to its science, and this knowledge must be acquired before other elements of the aggressive Western culture can subjugate the subjects of the traditional socio-cultural situation and deprive them of the content of their identity. Shadman does not consider the project of conquering Western civilization possible except with self-awareness and national unity. Raise the scattered from their humble, modernized or traditionalized position to a cohesive and integrated, self-conscious and original position, so that the subject can localize modernity through this self-awareness and free Iran from the situation of Western domination and conquest.
