در شعر کهن فارسی در ادوار مختلف از شاهنامه فردوسی گرفته تا شعر معاصر، نام حضرت حمزه (ع) مکرراً آمده است و نشان از جایگاه ایشان در فرهنگ اسلامی مردمان فارسی زبان و رواج داستان های حضرت حمزه(ع) در بیان مردم این بخش از تمدن اسلامی در اعصار گوناگون دارد. در میراث کهن شعر فارسی نام حضرت حمزه(ع) همطراز اسطوره های کهن فارسی چون رستم و دیگر پهلوانان شاهنامه ای مثال و مظهر قدرت و رشادت در میدان رزم و جنگ بوده است و ذوق شاعران عرفانی سرا در خلق داستان های زیبای عرفانی از شخصیت ایشان و ارتباط دادن سلحشوری ایشان با شناخت، بصیرت و پیشرفت ایشان در طی مراحل سلوک، شخصیتی بی بدیل از ایشان در ادبیات فارسی ساخته است.حضرت حمزه (ع)، حماسه ها و رشادت های او و داستان شهادت جانسوز ایشان در ژانر های مختلفی در ادب فارسی بیان گردیده است که در شعر فارسی در قالب های مدح، اشعار اسطوره ای و حماسی، اشعار عرفانی و تاریخی آمده است. قدیمی ترین اشعار فارسی درباره حضرت حمزه بیانگر رشادت ها و پهلوانی های ایشان است و متأخرترین اشعار جنبه مرثیه و عزاداری دارد. بخش بزرگی از اشعار فارسی درباره حضرت حمزه علیه السلام تفسیر عرفانی از حوادث شهادت آن حضرت ارائه می‌کند، سنایی غزنوی همانطور که آغازگر شعر عرفانی است اولین ابیات عرفانی را درباره ایشان دارد و مفصلترین آثار منظوم فارسی درباره حضرت حمزه علیه السلام در قالب عرفانی از مولوی بلخی می باشد. در قالب حماسی نیز اولین اشعار موجود درباره ایشان، در شاهنامه فردوسی آمده است اما اسطوره حماسی ایشان در نظم و نثر فارسی و همچنین در فرهنگ فارسی بسیار رایج بوده است.

Hazrat Hamza (AS) and his epics and bravery and the story of his martyrdom have been told in various genres in Persian literature, which is mentioned in Persian poetry in the form of praise, mythical and epic poems, mystical and historical poems. The oldest Persian poems about Hazrat Hamza express his bravery and heroism, and the latest poems have the aspect of mourning. A large part of Persian poems about Hazrat Hamza PBUH offers a mystical interpretation of the events of his martyrdom. Sanai Ghaznavi, as the beginning of mystical poetry, has the first mystical verses about him and the most detailed works of Persian poetry about Hazrat Hamza PBUH are in the mystical form of Rumi Balkhi. In the form of epics, the first poems about him are mentioned in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, but his epic myth has been very prevalent in Persian poetry and prose, as well as in Persian culture.
