Human comfort depends to a large extent on climatic parameters and, of course, geographical features. There are few studies that have considered the role of these two factors together in the issue of human comfort. The present study tries to evaluate different levels of human comfort using the emotional temperature index based on the golden ratio theory in Iranian metropolises.Temperature, precipitation and average wind speed parameters in daily time step for 13 metropolises of Iran for the statistical period (1991-120) were obtained from the Meteorological Organization and were used to calculate the Somatosensory Temperature(ST) index. This index is based on the "Golden Ratio Theory" and the "Actual Optimum Comfort Temperature(AOCT)" and its important features are considerable flexibility to changes in latitude, altitude and season. The results showed that there is a inverse and significant correlation (-0.867, α> 0.01) between latitude and optimal comfort temperature and this relationship for altitude parameter with coefficient (-0.607) was significant. The cities of Bandar Abbas and Ahvaz had the highest frequency of feeling hot and Tabriz had the highest frequency of very cold days. And the highest monthly distribution of thermal comfort conditions is estimated for the city of Rasht. For the summer season, the city of Tabriz with a total of 21% comfort conditions, by far, has a better situation among other cities, while Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, Kerman and Yazd have not experienced any of the comfort levels in this season. The highest frequency of complete comfort conditions is estimated for the autumn season, so that in 9 out of 13 cities, the threshold was dominant. The use of all major climatic parameters and the possibility of applying various corrections have provided the ST index with the ability to be used in a significant range of latitudes and regions with different altitudes.
