به نظر می‌آید مهم‌ترین مبحثی که متناسب با سه سیر فلسفه‌ی صدرایی دچار تحول شده است مبحث علیت است که ابعاد و فروعِ بسیاری دارد و در زمینه‌های مختلف با تحول‌های یاد شده همراهی می‌کند؛ ما در این مقاله پنج موضوعِ مقدماتی مبحث علیت را بر مبنای سه سیر فلسفی مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهیم؛ به عنوان مثال در موضوعِ مفاد علیت، متناسب با نگاهِ غیرِ وجودی و ماهیت‌محور، سه نحو بیانِ «هر موجودی، هر حادثی و هر ممکنی (به امکان ماهوی)» نیاز به علت دارد» قابلِ طرح است؛ حال آن‌که بر مبنای سیر دوم مفاد اصل علیت به نحو «هر ممکنی (به امکان فقری) محتاج به علت است» مطرح است و متناسب با سیر سوم «هر شأنی وابسته به ذی‌شأن است» قابل بیان می‌باشد؛ در باقی موضوعات نیز چنین تناسب‌هایی وجود دارد که در مقاله‌ی حاضر به آن پرداخته‌ایم.
It seems that causality is the most important issue that has undergone changes in line with the three phases of Sadra's philosophy. It has many dimensions and divisions and goes with the evolutions of this philosophy in various aspects. In this article, we examine five basic issues of causality based on these three philosophical phases; as for the subject of causality, for instance, according to the quiddity-oriented and non-existential view, three options can be proposed, "'every being', 'every phenomenon' or 'every contingent (essential contingency)' need a cause" while based on the second phase, it can be stated as "every contingent (existential contingency) is in need of a cause", whereas according to the third phase of evolution, it can be stated as "every manifestation is dependent on the manifested". Also, in other issues of the causality similar results can be attained that have been discussed in this article.
