Content analysis is predominantly
enumerated amongst the novel methods
in exploring the literary texts. On the
other hand, sociological criticism of the
literary genres is of a great value and
importance due to the descriptions
provided of the literary man’s
immediate society. In the present study,
the odes by Farrokhi Yazdi and Jamil
Sedqi Al-Zahawi have been
investigated based on sociological
indicators; the current research has
been done according to the social
perspectives governing the Iranian and
Iraqi communities; then, a comparison
has been made between the odes by
Farrokhi Yazdi and Zahawi. At first,
the authors dealt with the socialpolitical
evolutions in the
contemporary era of the two poets and,
subsequently, their effects on their
poems have been examined. The result
was the relatively large mutual effects
of the society and its changes on the
poems by Farrokhi and Zahawi. After
performing the aesthetical evaluation
of their odes, such concepts as the
individuals’ social relations and ties,
family, women and class gaps existent
in the studied communities were
explored and criticized. The two poets’
lifetimes coincide with the sensitive
sociopolitical incidents in both of the
countries (Iran and Iraq). On the one
hand, internal despotism and, on the
other hand, external imperialism
disturbs Farrokhi and Zahawi. The
present study’s authors have adopted a
descriptive-analytical approach to the
evaluation and criticism of the data.
