Abstract:
زمینه و هدف: در ایران، از نیمۀ دوم قرن نوزده به این‌سو، در حالی‌که روشنفکران تجددخواه آشنا با فرهنگ غرب، عمدتا به مدرنیزاسیون با دیدۀ تعامل و رواداری می‌نگریستند و حتی از دستاوردهای علمی و تکنولوژیک آن مسامحتا جانبداری می‌کردند؛ در دگرسو امّا، روشنفکران سنّتی و بومی‌گرا با پشتوانه‌های نسبتا اعتقادی، نسبت به پدیداری و کارکرد مدرنیته و طلیعۀ تجدّد، با دیدۀ تخطئه و تقابل نگریسته و آن را مصداق غربزدگی می‌انگاشتند. این جستار می‌کوشد تا ضمن پاسخ به این پرسش که «کیفیت دو سوی رویارویی فکری دگراندیشان ایرانی نسبت به شرق‌شناسی و ورود مظاهر مدرنیسم در امتداد سدۀ بیستم چگونه بوده‌است؟»، دلایل نظری و تئوریک این دو دیدگاه را در نگاهی به شرق‌شناسی، بررسی نماید. روش‌شناسی: رویکرد روش‌شناسانۀ این پژوهش تطبیقی و تحلیلی و مبتنی بر منابع کتابخانه‌ای است. یافته‌ها و نتایج: مدرنیته در سرشت خود گزاره‌های فردیت، آزادی مدنی و اهمیت قانون را ترویج می‌کرد. به‌نظر می‌رسد رویکرد روشنفکران ایرانی به شرق‌شناسی دوگانه بوده است؛ چنان‌که به موازات شیفتگی برخی از ترقّی-خواهان نسبت به غرب و مظاهر مدرنیته که از فرق سر تا نوک پا غربی‌شدن را لازمۀ توسعه و پیشرفت جامعه می-دانستند؛ همزمان روشنفکران سنت‌گرای ایران، دیدگاه گروه نخست را دگربودگی، غربزدگی و توطئۀ استعمار پنداشته و هرگونه تعامل و تسامح با غرب را نفی می‌کردند. مآلا چنین می‌نماید که در مقطع سال‌های منتهی به انقلاب اسلامی، گفتمان گروه متاخر، موثّرتر افتاد و تا سال‌ها گفتمان غالب جامعۀ ایران باقی ماند.
Background and purpose: In Iran, from the second half of the nineteenth century onwards, while the modernist intellectuals who are familiar with the western culture, mainly look at modernization with the view of interaction and tolerance, and even tolerate its scientific and technological achievements, looked at the phenomenon and function of modernity and the vanguard of renewal with a view of error and opposition and considered it as an example of westernization. This essay tries to answer the question, "What was the quality of the intellectual confrontation of Iranian dissidents with regard to Orientalism and the arrival of modernism in the course of the 20th century?"Methodology: The methodological approach of this research is comparative and analytical and based on library sources.Findings and results: Modernity in its nature promoted the propositions of individuality, civil freedom and the importance of law. It seems that the approach of Iranian intellectuals to Orientalism was twofold; parallel to the fascination of some progressives towards the West and the manifestations of modernity, who considered westernization from head to toe as a necessity for the development and progress of society; At the same time, Iran's traditionalist intellectuals considered the first group's point of view to be xenophobia, westernization, and a colonial conspiracy and denied any interaction and tolerance with the West. It seems that during the years leading to the Islamic Revolution, the discourse of the later group became more influential and remained the dominant discourse of Iranian society for many years.
