Aim and Background: Divorce، as one of the most stressful events، leads to some mental and emotional problems، especially in divorced women. The aim of the present research was to study the effectiveness of religion-based cognitive-behavior therapy on depression in divorced women.
Method: The research is a quasi-experimental method with pre-post test، fallow-up and control group. The sample consisted of 30 divorced women selected by in-reach sampling and matched by age، educational status، physical health and other criteria considered in this research. They were randomly divided into two groups (n=12) of experimental and control. We administered 12 45-minute weekly sessions of religion-based cognitive- behavior therapy for the experimental group، but the control group did not receive any intervention. The instrument was Beck Depression Inventory II (BDII).
Results: The results revealed significant difference between the two groups regarding depression (P<0/001). Also، the rate of depression significantly decreased as compared to pre-test and control group. Conclusion: The results proved that religion-based cognitive-behavior therapy decreases the rate of depression in divorced women.
