The essay gives answers to such questions as: Do we still need for
creed in this age-the age of modern technology and mindboggling
development of human sciences?
Can technology and modern developments be sufficient for man to create
happiness and rest for himself; and thus, put aside such things like creed,
religion, and religious sect?
Is it principally possible to reduce creed to nothing in life?
The writer of the essay thus uses the descriptive-analytical approach
while answering these questions and their likes. Hence, he proves that
creed is seen to play a pivotal, vital, and basic role in recognizing man’s true
identity and life. Moreover, man’s need for creed increases with the increase
of his keeping up with the scientific development; and this matter includes
all individuals of the human race without any exception. It is thus never
inaccurate to say that the attainment of true and eternal felicity is possible
only through nourishing oneself with sound creed and working according to
it. Furthermore, life in the technological age and benefitting for technology
cannot be imagined without practical commitment to life’s intellectual and
his smartness and powerful desire for continuing on learning this field
of knowledge; so, I, having promised him to respond to his request, saw
smiles of happiness cover his face and heard words of appreciation coming
out of his mouth. In fact, he is to me like a son that my soul, not my body,
bore, since he had a great desire to acquaint himself with the mysteries of
this superlative science and had been looking forward to be familiar with
its most excellent particulars. I thus responded to his request and decided
to write down this book, which I entitled: al-Lawami’ al-Ilahiyyah fil-
Mabahith al-Kalamiyyah, placing my confidence in the All-truth Lord and
beseeching Him to guide me to the path of honesty. Thus, I divided the book
into a number of lawami’s
smart students who was well-qualified for learning the rational sciences
asked his mentor al-Sayyuri to write an all-comprehensive book that
would contain all creedal topics and discuss them in the most accurate and
masterful writing style. Responding to his smart student’s request, the wellversed
scholar al-Sayyuri started writing the book involved.
Mentioning the impetus and the incentive for writing his book, al-
Fadil al-Miqdad wrote: “When reason and narration, and origin and
branch, unanimously agreed on the greatness and magnificence of science
in grandeur; and on the loftiness of its people in the sight of the Supreme
Assembly and their high honor and reputation; it has been proven that
tending to and acquiring science should be preferred to all deeds; hence,
the higher and more precious the topic of science, the more preferable its
learning. Theology, being one of these sciences, reveals the screens of the
World of Omnipotence, gives a perfect idea about the Divine Royalty and
the unseen features of Allah’s Kingdom, distinguishes the rightly guided
people from the straying ones, acquaints with the features of the Divinely
chosen Messengers of Allah and Imams, and displays the manners of the
happy and the wretched on the Resurrection Day. Scholars have compiled
innumerable books on these topics and over-revised and over-commented
on the issues related to these topics; therefore, I had the desire to compete
with them in this field, aiming at seeking nearness to the Lord of Lords
and winning His recompense and opulent rewards, through writing a book
that comprises totally the best of the unique topics of the science involved
and composing the most exact advantages expected from it. The thing that
stirred up my determination was a request made by one whom I recognized
