The emphasis of World Health Organization (WHO) on the importance of social health, along with physical health, have turned social health into a common concern for sociologists and social planners in all societies. Thus, present study attempts to study the role of self-esteem, self-efficacy and happiness in predicting the social health of the elderly. This is a descriptive correctional study. The statistical community of this study consists of all the elderly men over 60 years old in Ardabil city in 2016 of which 116 subjects were selected as the sample of the study using available sampling method. The self-esteem scale of Cooper smith, Self-efficiency scale of Schweitzer and Jerusalem, Happiness Scale of Argyle and social scale of keyes and Shapiro were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression and analyzed SPSS version 23 software. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem (r= 0.61), self-efficacy (r=0.57), happiness (r=0.53) and social health among the elderly. Also, the results of step-wise regression revealed that self-esteem, self-efficacy and happiness predict the social health of the elderly (p< 0.05). It could be concluded that self-esteem, self-efficacy and happiness are among the variables associated with the social health of the elderly and can predict it. Therefore, the social health of the elderly could be raised by increasing self-esteem, self-efficacy and happiness.
