Background: Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports injuries that lead to Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI) in athletes. The aim of this research was to examine the effects of 8-week core stability training on stable and unstable surfaces on postural sway in athletes CAI. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, thirty athletes with CAI the age range of 18-30 years were participated in this study. The participants were intentionally selected and assigned nonrandomly into three groups, unstable surface training (UG), stable surface training (SG) and control (CG). UG and SG performed the core stability exercise protocol. To evaluate the postural sway, Single Leg Stance test and Drop-Landing test on foot scan were used. Center of Pressure displacement (COPd) and Center of Pressure velocity (COPvel) were measured. One-way ANOVA and Holm-Bonferroni post hoc test were used to evaluate the data. Results: Findings from the posttest showed that there was a significant difference in COPd and COPvel in UG compared to SG and CG in the Single Leg Stance and Drop-Landing tests (PConclusion: According to the results, it can be concluded that performing core stability training on Trampoline surface has a more effect on reducing the COPd and COPvel in athletes with CAI. Therefore, it is recommend to perform these exercises as a training intervention to reduce postural sway in people with CAI.
