The ontology of musical work is known as one of the most successful contemporary trends in philosophy of music. Over the past three decades, the analytical tradition of philosophy of music has addressed a wide variety of ontological issues, such as the relationship between works and performances and their associated characteristics with notation, abstraction, discovery or creation, and many other challenging questions. However, perhaps the most central ontological question is whether a musical work exist or not. This article shows that the three ontological theories of Idealism, Nominalism, and Platonism ,despite their differences, have proceeding or continuity of realism about the existence of a musical work. In this article, we will explain how realistic these theories are and whether a musical work exist or not.
