The linkage between monetary policy shocks and exchange rate regime survival is one of
the main issues in the international finance and has been considered empirically and
theoretical point of view in recent years. Hence, the major target of this paper is to
investigate the effects of monetary policy shocks and other explanatory variables on the
exchange rate regime survival in the organization of Islamic countries with exchange rate
anchor arrangement during the period of 1999-2020. For achieving this, the monetary policy
shocks have been extracted by residual method and then the inflationary environment has
been estimated by Markov-Switching methods respectively. In final section, the model has
been evaluated by quasi-parametric model and Weibull distribution. The empirical results
showed that the positive and negative shocks of monetary policy have negative and positive
impacts on the exchange rate regime survival in these groups of countries. Moreover, the
gross capital formation, trade openness, marginal cost of trade partners have positive,
positive and negative effects on the exchange rate survival. The inflationary environment
has negative and significant impact on the exchange rate survival in the group of exchange
