چکیده:
Most of the recent interdisciplinary researches have shown that there is a relationship between psyche and translation activities. To this end, this article aims to shed light on the relationship between translator’s Social Intelligence (SI), and the translation quality of political texts. Therefore, we conducted a psycho-translatological study on the translation of Trump’s speech to the UN general assembly in order to find out the probable positive, meaningful correlation between the quality of the translated text and the translator’s SI. To fulfill this aim 40 Iranian freshmen and sophomores of English Translation Studies were asked to fill out two SI questionnaires (Stellar SI questionnaire and Tromso SI questionnaire), and translate a short political text from English to Persian. Interestingly, the results revealed that no significant relationship exists between an individual’s SI and his/her translation quality.
