There is a gap between the knowledge and experience to provide quality dental care and the skills needed to make a profitable dental office. Therefore, dental office management is so important. The aim of this study was investigating the effect of clinical practice on the knowledge of general dentists about office management. In this descriptive-cross-sectional study, 137 general dentists working in Yazd completed a 12-question questionnaire about office management. Finally, the data was analyzed by SPSS 17 and ANOVA and T- tests. The results showed that the overall average score of dentists' knowledge of office management was 39.3±8 (out of 60 points). The average knowledge score of dentists who participated in related retraining courses was significantly higher than those who did not participate (P-value=0.036). There was no statistically significant difference between the average score of knowledge according to age (P-value=0.984) and experience of dental clinical activity (P-value=0.448). In general, according to self-report, the level of dentists ‘knowledge about office management and related fields was moderate and the need for training in all areas was high.
