Intelligence is involved with all human cognitive processes. When we hear the word "intelligence",
the concept of intelligence quotient (IQ) usually comes to mind. Intelligence is usually defined as
potential rational abilities. Something we are born with, something that can be measured and a
capacity that is difficult to change. But in recent years, other views on intelligence have emerged.
One of these perspectives is the theory of multiple intelligences, which was proposed by Howard
Gardner, a psychologist at Howard University. According to Gardner, most people have several
intelligences, one of which is more prominent. In 1983, Professor Howard Gardner, professor of
psychology at Harvard University, in his book "Framework of Mind: The Theory of Multiple
Intelligences", unlike all other scientists and theorists, stated that there is not only one single or
general intelligence, but there are multiple intelligences. According to Gardner, people have
several intelligences, one of which is more prominent. For example, someone may be very good
at learning motor skills such as sports (kinesthetic intelligence) but be weaker at learning math
(mathematical intelligence) or music (musical intelligence). The application of Professor Howard's
multiple intelligences will not only make the teacher's teaching more creative in the classroom, but
will also have a creative effect on the teacher's learning during the in-service courses and the
students' learning.
