Abstract:
Objective: The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of neurofeedback training on increasing of Arithmetic abilities (numerical calculation and numerical memory) in the students with dyscalculia.
Method: It was a semiexperimental design using pre-test and post-test for both the experimental and control groups. The subjects were 2 students with mathematical learning disability from 10 to 12 year-old who were selected using the in access sampling method. They were randomly assigned in two matched groups. The subjects performed two subscales of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R)، including Arithmetic and Digit Span (a memory test)، as pre-test and post-test. Data was analyzed using analysis of covariance and multivariate analysis of variance.
Results: Neurofeedback training resulted in noticeable increase in mathematical calculation abilities (Arithmetic and Memory) of the experimental group in compare with the control group.
Conclusion: Neurofeedback، as a supplemental intervention method، may be used to treat of mathematical learning disability disorder.
