Abstract:
This study aims at identifying quality level of curricula content in
different types of secondary education, and to what extent they
match labor market requirements from teacher's and student's
views. The researcher has developed a questionnaire for teachers
and another one for students, and calculated the psychometric
validity. Then, the first questionnaire was distributed to (70)
teachers (male and female), while the other one was distributed to
(277) male and female students in five different types of secondary
schools (basic, commercial, agricultural, veterinary and industrial
schools.
The statistical analysis showed that (%60) of the responds
estimated the quality standards of curricula content related to the
second item of the questionnaire (society and labor market
requirements) at lowest level. In addition, more than a half of the
sample (%54) had very low estimation to anticipate future job
opportunities for the graduated secondary school students. Most
common reasons for that grouped as follows: The planning process
doesn’t compromise the requirements of the human force
development plans, the current curricula doesn’t provide the student
with the required vocational skills needed for the labor market.
