Abstract:
This study deals with an important issue in the Arab cinema in general and in Algerian cinema in particular,
namely, the question of identity which has often affected most Arab countries except Egypt, especially those
countries that have a complex historical relationship with colonialism like Algeria. Not only in the directors of these
countries, but in the countries belonging to the Arab nation in most of the seminars that follow the film festivals,
the makers of these films prove time and time again on their local and national affiliation through some films that
are distinguished in the Arab cinema, She was born out of the womb of colonialism. She is still proving, like her
sisters in Morocco and Mashreq, that she belongs in terms of the content of the films presented on her local and
national identity through some important films in her film history, such as "Nahla" (Farouk Beloufa) (Merzak
Allouache), a sample only of several films that demonstrated the identity of Algerian cinema, which oscillates
between local and Arab nationalism.
