Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to describe the role of the new middle class in the process of transition to democracy in the years following the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Extensive post-war economic and social renewal increased the young population and the growth of academically educated and expanding new middle classes. Iran had become an important player in the emergence of favorable internal conditions for the transition to democracy. The political and economic demands of this class, in contrast to the structure of the country that was unable to respond to these demands, have become a force that has created instability in recent decades. Effortless. Accordingly, the main question of this study is, what effect does the expansion of the new middle class have on the process of transition to democracy in Iran? The hypothesis of this study is that the expansion of the middle class in Iran has led to the divergence of interests of the new middle class with the state, which inevitably leads to the transition to democracy. The research method used in this article is descriptive-analytical and library resources have been used for information analysis. The results show that the development of new middle class in political and economic fields presents challenges for the country's political system. It has brought with it the possibility of moving towards democracy. Challenges can be overcome by redistributing political authority and institutionalizing democracy as a way to facilitate greater participation of the people in the government.
