Abstract:

Pottery, as the first illustrated book, has long been a platform for displaying human feelings, and expressing
human thoughts and cultural stability and permanence. These late motifs on the platform of potteries from
prehistoric millennia to post-Islamic millennia are a symbol of the continuity of Iranian culture and an
achievement for today's artists whose ideal is to perpetuate and revive the positive effects and efficiency that
they have achieved in the past. Among these motifs, the most prominent is the motif of the sun (CHALIPA),
which many scholars believe is rooted in ancient religions and traditions as well as ancient mythology. Despite
its simplicity, this motif has a lot of variety and innovation. Meybod is a desert region and the sun has been the
symbol of light. Due to the religion of the people of this region, who were Zoroastrians, the sun was holy among
them, the role of the lady sun is taken from this culture. Lady sun’s design can be seen in different forms in some
mosques and public places. The number seven was considered a sacred number by the people. For this reason,
the lines of radiation around the sun consisted of seven lines. The reason for drawing the sun with a woman’s
face can be explained by the fact that this image is the image of the goddess Mehr, originally a god, a partner in
ruling the world, a blessing and a supporter of the covenant.
