Abstract:
Risk factors include poor balance, falls, injuries and even death in older adults. The present study was done to investigate the effects of eight weeks of training in the water balance and lower limb strength in elderly men. The subjects of this study were 20 disabled aged men of Kermanshah that according to the study criteria were selected and randomly divided into control and experimental groups. Before starting the exercise protocol, static balance, and dynamic lower extremity strength subjects were standing stork test, Timed up & go, and the 30-second chair stand was evaluated. Then experimental group has done its exercises in the water for eight weeks (three sessions per week). Difference between the pre-test and post-test of experimental and control groups is analyzed using a t-dependent and statistically significant at the 0.05 independent analyzes. The results showed that eight weeks of training in water makes a significant %28 increase in static balance (P=0.001), dynamic balance increased between %10 (P=0.006), and a significant increase in lower body strength %37 (P=0.0001) of elder men. While no significant difference was observed in the control group.
