Abstract:
Modernity in the sense of innovation is the opposite of traditionalism. Simin Behbahani and Bushra Bostani are among the best poets who reflect the traditional and modern society of Iran and Iraq in their poems. In addition to trending towards modernity, these two have not turned away from tradition and pay special attention to it, and their trend can be assessed as moderate. Because they passed by the bad traditions of their society and criticized it. In addition to their creative confrontation in the direction of tradition and modernity, they pay special attention to the unsettled situation of women and moderate feminist tendencies so that they not only do not take a harsh position against the male gender; Rather, they consider both to be the source of each other's perfection. This research examines and analyzes the elements of tradition and modernity in the works of two poets with a descriptive-analytical method based on the American school. The result of this research is to deal with the weight of traditional poetry, avoiding weight and rhyme, and since the minds of both poets are involved in human and social themes, sometimes the weight of the poem has become a victim of content and theme. The obvious characteristic of the two poets is their tendency towards modernity and not turning away from tradition, and in general, their approach in using the standards and principles of tradition and modernity can be considered an irreplaceable position. Since both of them have experienced some kind of emotional failure in their lives, they have dedicated a large part of the poem to express the problems and issues of women in the society.
