The aim of this research is to identify the opinions of Arabic
language teachers for non-native speakers about the use of
alternative assessment methods in teaching Arabic to non-native
speakers.
To achieve this, the research followed the descriptive method. The
researcher used the five-peer (Likert) scale, which is a
questionnaire consisting of (37) items distributed according to the
following areas: (performance assessment, portfolio assessment,
self-assessment, peer assessment, observational assessment,
interview assessment, and concept map assessment).
The number of the individuals of the research sample was (69)
male and female teachers of Arabic for non-native speakers.
The results have shown that the teachers' opinions about all
methods have got high scores, with close ratios. The first axis
representing the performance assessment came first, while the two:
self- assessment, peer-assessment came last.
The research has also concluded that there are no statistically
significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) among the
mean scores of teachers' opinions about the use of alternative
assessment methods, which are attributed to such variables as:
(educational qualification, and experience years).
