Objective: Consumer environmental concerns in food products have increased the demand for green products, so the marketing of these products requires attention to the issue of pricing based on consumer reaction. The main purpose of this study is to measure the effect of the price level and green label on product purchase intention in different population groups.Design/methodology/approach: The present study is applied in terms of purpose and experimental in terms of method. The experiment design is a 2 (price level: high vs low) × 2 (green label: green vs. non-green) between-subjects study To conduct the experiment, a pilot website was first designed and a food product (hamburger) was displayed in two green / normal modes and at two high and low price levels. Statistical samples that were available through social networks visited these retailers and received the questionnaire link on the website page and expressed their intention to buy the selected product based on the questionnaire. Data analysis was performed through one-way ANOVA, and factor analysis.Findings: The results of the analysis of the findings showed that the relatively higher prices of green products are acceptable to consumers, since the average intention to buy green products by groups that have chosen high-priced green products is higher. This can be attributed to consumers' perceptions of the relationship between price and quality or the features added to the product. The findings of the present study show that differences in price levels, considering the interaction of green characteristics, cause differences in the intention to buy green products. The differences observed in the intention to buy in the women / men groups are the same. But the difference in price level is different considering the interactions of green / non-green characteristics on the intention to buy the product between people with different levels of education and income levels.Practical implications: According to the findings, business owners and marketers should be careful when pricing and determine the appropriate price levels appropriate to the type of green products, to increase the likelihood of their intention to buy. According to the research findings, marketers are advised to put strategies to ensure the quality of green products on the agenda. One of these solutions is to use valid green certificates on product packaging. Because one of the ways to ensure the quality of green products in domestic and international markets is to have valid certificates for these products. In line with the research findings, marketers are advised, in addition to observing the necessary standards to provide high-quality green products, to consider a pricing strategy commensurate with the characteristics of green to increase consumer purchasing intent.Originality/value: Simultaneous measurement of the effect of price and green label on the intention to purchase the product by experimental method and in different population groups is an innovation of this research that has not been addressed in previous studies.
