Purpose: National identity is one of the important and outstanding issues of today's world and one of the undeniable necessities of any society. As a result, the aim of this study was designing a national identity curriculum pattern for the second period of elementary school.
Methodology: The present study in terms of purpose was applied and in terms of implementation method was qualitative with a grounded theory. The research population was national identity experts included the social sciences and educational sciences experts, which the sample size according to the principle of theoretical saturation was estimated to be 36 people, who were selected by purposeful and snowball sampling methods. The research tool was a semi-structured interview, whose validity was confirmed with using the triangulation method, and its reliability was calculated using the Cohen's kappa method 0.89. The data were analyzed by open, axial and selective coding method based on the grounded theory.
Findings: The findings showed that in the national identity curriculum pattern for the second period of elementary school, the causal conditions were include necessities and needs, general goals and partial goals, contextual conditions were include materials and resources, teacher's role, space and time, intervening conditions were include organizational factors and hidden learning, central phenomenon were include characteristics of national identity curriculum content, strategies were include content organization methods, teaching and learning methods and evaluation methods and outcomes were include development of comprehensive knowledge components and development of comprehensive skill components. According to the findings, the paradigm pattern of national identity curriculum for the second period of elementary school was designed.
Conclusion: According to the grounded theory paradigm of national identity curriculum for the second period of elementary school, it is necessary to plan to improve the national identity curriculum based on the designed model.
