چکیده:
This study investigated criteria and themes required for constructing an objective and communicative psycho-motor mechanism scale based on the theory of translation proposed by PACTE. Qualitative para-digm was employed in relation to the translation tasks and the number of participants (no.11). Feedback through semi-structured interview was obtained to find the descriptors in designing the psycho-motor mechanism scale. Two independent raters, familiar with analyzing qualitative data, evaluated the transla-tion works and responses to the interviews. The results of the study could contribute to the field of trans-lation studies. The findings showed that more objective criteria in relation to anchored theories of transla-tion quality assessment were required in the field.

Communicative translation, on the other hand, "attempts to render the exact contextual meaning of the original in such a way that both content and language are readily acceptable and comprehensible to the readership" (Newmark, 1988, p.
Procedure In this study, the translation tasks (including two texts of two hundred and twelve words and two hundred and eleven) were first given to a class of eleven master’s level students at Allameh Tabat- aba'i University.
However, in this study, two different languages with various origins were contrasted, so the literal translation of the subjects seemed totally awkward in several cases and that was why the researchers asked the participants from the begin- ning to translate the texts communicatively.
In case of not finding the appropriate equivalence in the target language, it is suggested that a competent translator should have an inquisitive mind con- stantly searching for encyclopedic knowledge (Hatim & Mason, 1990, pp.
Subject/Verb Agreement Another significant problem of the translators was that they mentioned they could comprehend the meaning of the source language, but in trans- lation to Persian, sometimes the sentences be- came so lengthy that the agreement between sub- ject and verb in terms of plurality was not ob- served.
" And as the last step, the categories including interpretation of the title, translation of words with multiple meanings, translation of words with no appropriate equiva- lence in the target language, translation of idioms and the author’s point of view were summarized under the theme of "translation strategies.
